Hey folks,
I know it has been an up and down week. Literally but we are still doing some tweaking. The most major of which is we are moving part of our Data Storage to another provider. Our current provider, Wasabi...does not give us that many options for badwidth flexibility. Basically we have no ability to purchase more at a reasonable rate. Which effectively solidified the decision to split the storage options.
- High Bandwidth Items: Downloads Initially will move to the new provider, Digital Ocean ~250GB (1TB Bandwidth, $0.01/GB Additional Bandwidth)
- Low to Medium Bandwidth Items: Gallery, Site Applications will stay with our current external storage, Wasabi ~1TB (1TB Bandwidth Capped)
- Site Theme and System Assets: Will remain with our smaller provide (more expensive), Amazon AWS Storage ~8GB (8GB Bandwidth Capped)
This will effectively split our bandwidth in multiple directions, in addition with us being able to move specific areas to high bandwidth storage if we need to. The move is currently in Progress, but as you know we have a fairly large Files database in terms of size, so it may take a few hours to complete. Just be aware if you try to download something and for some reason it does not exist.
We have also pulled the plug permanently on Cloudflare. While it does have it perks. Invision (Host) does not support it, and for the second time it has caused a major outage (Over 12 Hours) with the site. That is simply not acceptable in our books. Because this is mainly needed for High Bandwidth areas that is the reason we choose Digital Ocean as they have an included CDN with their service.
