Idea for hairs/hats

Not sure if this is going to payoff, but I've been thinking...

So far, hats are being adapted to hair using position/scale/rotation sliders. This is good to some extent, but it's easy to end up with ridiculously huge hats.

Hiding part of the hair seems a better solution to me, but it requires some careful texture work. I'm not sure I'm even capable of doing that, but it's worth a try.

Why bother? Well. Hair364 is too "impractical" for a sex game. So I decided to replace it with a combination of R9Hat150 and R9Hair240 (see image)

Can you please provide the UV map for Hair240?

I've thought about the hair/hat problem a lot over the years.

The best idea I can come up with is if someone can invent a "morph" for hair that allows you to make the top half of the hair smaller till it fits under a normal sized hat (morphs for LONG hair to simulate swinging in poses would be great too.)

Just like hat size sliders, have morph options for "top front/back/side/all".

"Hiding" just the top half of the hair (if it were even possible) still wouldn't look right (with hair hanging from the hat brim.)

It's a nice idea, yet you may find that because of some hair UV's (multiple hair pieces draw from the same UV space) it may not always be possible to do it, cuts in one area will also leave a cut in other. But luckily not all hairs have it like this.

As a second thought you may look into also applying displacement to try to hide the peeking parts where cuts won't help.

Why not? Until you remove the hat of course... 😃

Using alternate meshes/ morphs is the other way of doing it. Definitely not an easier method, and PE tracks getting crowded as it is.

I think this is what you get in Blender when "Project from View"is chosen as unwrap option. Marking seams and using the simple "Unwrap" option would avoid this, but I think for hairs this is simply not possible.
