Freckels?

Are their any good Freckle Textures?  Both face and body?  The original seems to be face only and it kind of sucks.

There is a few.  @Euphie has some for both face and body.  I believe you can find it in her skin texture pack.  @Driver and myself have some freckle skin layers for the face.

These are all H5 Skin Layers though.

That's fine.  I downloaded H5 and installed it.  I do have a few issues though and since I am new to using the upgraded features, I have some questions.  The first is: I have H5 and I have read about VX.  What is VX (other than a new file format)?  Is it compatible with H5?

The others are related to issues I am having such as TK17 VX crashing constantly after installing H5.  For example, after one or two sessions of editing characters, I can no longer do it.  It either doesn't launch the editing scene at all, or it crashes during launch.  I have to restart TK17 in order to get it to work again (which is a real pain).  I have activated the 4G setup so unless I have to do that each time I run it, that isn't the problem.

 

EDIT: I figured out what VX is (version 10).  However, some people seem to still talk about it as though it is an extesion to the game (like H5).  So I am still curious what they are referring to.  The default body?

VX stands for Version 10, The version of the game we are running here (as opposed to version 7.5, etc). It branched off, hence we consider it separate from other versions. A lot of people still like to stick to v7.5.

Hook5 is an addition, granting you the power of extra DirectX features, which didn't exist at the games appearance (which was in the early 2000s).

The Hook5 skin system is a feature that hook5 allows you to use, but it requires some prerequisites from your side. It basically allows you to put transparent graphical layers over your skin, adding eg freckles, tattoos, makeup, tears, water drops, you name it.

The crash you experience is normal. It has to do with bad memory management in the game. It was originally designed to only support 2 GB of your RAM (That was the max. of the windows versions back then). Best idea is to find your sweet spot (How many rooms you can manage before it goes to shit) and restart the game, before you reach that limit.

You can run the optionsmanager from your TK17 binaries folder and see if you have the 4 GB executable checked (if not, check it), but it will only carry you so far. What helps, is to reduce your pose count. If you have more than 5k poses in your folder, reduce them to around that. That might help a bit and also reduce loading times.
