Sucky Base Game Items with No Replacements

So as some of you know, main reason I got into modding was because there was base game items I simply did not like and wanted a better high quality version.  Since then it has been interesting.  That said curious on what base game items are in need of some TLC...

I know Flip Flops are one, @Skórpion96 kindly pointed out the disaster of flip flops on the base game.....(New Flip Flops coming soon), but what else is there?

Spoiler

I haven't played it for a while but pretty much most of the male clothing is awful, if I remember correctly

True, but that's where none of the main focus is.  Female clothing is in far more demand, ditto for their body meshes.  It's primarily why I focused on improving male body meshes because virtually nothing was being done with them, let alone repairing imperfections.  But then dammit, I HAD to fix some of the male shirts because default shirt meshes were designed around crappy default bodies.  Ugh..  One thing leads to another.

When it comes to flip-flops (in Australia we call 'em "thongs" - go figure) there's not much else to do with 'em except texture-wise or maybe create some goddamn-awful crocs?

However, the reality is that base game items were designed to be barely "just good enough" by The Company™ to be able to sucker many into buying yet more crude items released in trickles, creating a community holding their breath for yet another "special" Christmas hat that was often chucked out to the masses for free.  But such crude base clothing items obviously spurred on individual modders.

Now (because we're capable of it) if most clothing items had a "dress/undress morph" it would surely add to the depth of gameplay and sequences instead of clothing just doing the "I Dream Of Jeannie *poof*" disappearing act etc.  It's a ton of work but at some point it's a possibility.  Although my sequence camera angles and direction tend to hide all this fairly well (and avoids much PE work) it would be nice to have that extra flair.

I ain't denying the profit motive but we should be fair... the game was released like what, almost 20 years ago? I can't even find the original release date but here were the specs they were working with:

System Requirements:
• OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7 (MacOS)
• Central Processing Unit (CPU): 1 GHz Pentium 4 respectively Athlon or better
• Random Access Memory (RAM): 512 MB minimum
• Screen Resolution: 1,024 x 768 pixel or more
• Video: 3D graphics card with 64 MB
• Others: OpenGL 1.1 or Direct X 8.1
• Internet connection: either Kabel or DSL
• Hard Drive Space: at least 250 MB free memory

Wikipedia doesn't even have a full entry on when DX8 was released. That's pre-half-life 2 levels of detail IIRC.

Now, they've done fuck all since to really expand features but I don't think it's as fair to criticize the original creators in this day and age.

True, they did some original work and those specs are the bare minimum without a large AM folder and only the addons (probably few self-made toys too) they allowed to be purchased.  I got into it back in 2014 and although they uprated the game engine since (up to 64 bit), fixed a few bugs (took years) and created something like a built-in Hook, we've shown the game engine has so much more capability but their profit margins are so important they've done nothing since, except concentrate almost solely on their online RPG stuff.  I could never go back because now I have so much more (most of it my own) that it would make everything look 20 years old, exceedingly hampered and limited.  Apparently the game engine isn't even theirs.

Well i look forward to having a look around here and seeing what's now available. Cheers for the info.

I think I've almost got enough of points or posts to at least try downloading the game.

We're always happy to help.  This is a good place to start:
