Downscaling 4X Textures: Is it possible??

Namely, textures with normal, spec and sub files. I noticed that the sub files are the same size as the regular skin texture, but the normal and spec files are twice the resolution as the textures themselves. My question here would be:

Is it possible to resize 4X/H5 Skins (not from the Universal Skin System) to a 1X resolution? Specifically, without them losing definition and not get pixelated when it comes to implemented tattoos, for example? Also, is it possible to do the same with normal, spec and sub files for these?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to do it without losing quality and pixelation. There's a reason why people wanted to have 4x skin, because quality.

Even so, the bump in quality is noticeable. If you have models with simple or no body marks/tattoos, It may be worthywhile. Also, 2x models are pretty good too.
