  1. I beat Final Fantasy VII Rebirth earlier this week and would like to share some of my thoughts. First off, I'd give the game a 7.5 out of 10. Quite good, but not great. Some of the regions were confusing to navigate, some of the mini-games were just awful and the storytelling had a few headscratchers.

I was really disappointed that I didn't get to play as Cid or Vincent this time, i.e. none of them were playable in battle. I'm guessing Square Enix are saving that for part 3, but seeing as that's likely three years away at least, I can't help but feel cheated.

    Now, on to spoiler talk:

    Spoiler

There were two instances when I seriously wanted to take Cloud out of the party. First of all, there's the scene at the Gongaga reactor, when he got mindfucked by Sephiroth into believing that Tifa was not the "real" Tifa, and proceeded to attack her. Then for some bizarre reason, Tifa didn't confront Cloud about this incident afterwards. Like, WHAT??

Second of all, Cloud's behavior at the Temple of the Ancients. He was such an insufferable little shit towards everyone, especially Tifa and Aerith. Again, I understand that he was being mindfucked by Sephiroth, but after seeing Aerith's heartbreaking trial and hearing her heartfelt speech afterwards, only for Cloud to say, "Are you finished?" I SO wanted Barret and/or Tifa to beat some sense into his skull.

And then... the ending. Good God, the ending. I had a strong feeling that Aerith would die like in the OG game, but I was still hoping that I could save her. So when Cloud managed to block Sephiroth's sword, I was like, "YES! It's happening! Aerith's gonna live!" ...but then I saw the pool of blood on the ground and was like, "Oh no..."

If they had played the scene straight as in the OG game, I would have been sad but I would have understood it. But the way Rebirth kept going back and forth between Aerith being alive and Aerith being dead, I was like, "What the fuck is going on?" This was not helped by the fact that I got thrown into a seemingly neverending series of boss fights.

The way they handled her death in the OG game with having a Jenova boss fight take place while Aerith's theme is still playing, and then showing her burial, is one of the saddest but also most memorable moments in video game history. This time around, however, you first fight Jenova, then Sephiroth, then Sephiroth Reborn (aka Bizarro Sephiroth in the OG game translation), and then Sephiroth again. Like, there's too much going on! We aren't given time to grieve the death of Aerith like we were in the OG game.

I will say, though, that having Cloud team up with Zack, and later on team up with Aerith for the ultimate fight against Sephiroth, were among the highlights of the game.

But on the whole, I read one comment on GameFAQs that summed it up pretty well:

"Honestly the ending felt like a middle-finger RIGHT at the player. There are those who wanted a 1:1 remake. There are those (like me) who wanted to live out our childhood dreams of saving Aerith. This game satisfies neither while teasing both and flipping off both."

First off, Claudio Serafino, one of Tekken 7's newcomers, was revealed in Bandai Namco's Closed Network Test announcement back in June. His gameplay trailer dropped in July.

On another note, two new trailers dropped tonight! Raven makes his return after missing Tekken 7, while Azucena is the first brand new character to be introduced in this game.

  10. What a final! This match had everything!

I have to admit I thought Argentina would win the match in ordinary time because France looked really sloppy for much of the match, but then 15 minutes before the end, out of nowhere, Mbappé turned everything upside down.

When it turned out that this would be the third World Cup final to be decided by penalties, this thought crossed my mind:

1994 Brazil vs.  Italy - Italy lost.
2006 France vs. Italy - France lost.
Would history repeat itself? Would the loser of the previous shootout win the next shootout?

But France was not that lucky.

Congratulations to Messi and Argentina! 🇦🇷

  11. Morocco fought hard and had some big chances, but ultimately France were just too strong. The reigning champions won 2-0 after goals by Théo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.

This weekend the last two matches of the 2022 World Cup will be played:

    Saturday, December 17 - Third place play-off:
    🇭🇷 Croatia vs. 🇲🇦 Morocco

    Sunday, December 18 - Final:
    🇦🇷 Argentina vs. 🇫🇷 France

  12. Argentina beat Croatia 3-0 and are through to the final! Lionel Messi scored on a penalty and is now Argentina's all-time top goalscorer in World Cup history with 11 goals, one more than Gabriel "Batigol" Batistuta. Julián Álvarez scored the other two goals, the second of which came after a moment of Messi magic as he managed to sneak the ball past Croatia's masked superhero Joško Gvardiol.

Messi has made it to his second World Cup final. There's only one team left standing in his way. Will it be France or Morocco? Tomorrow night we'll have the answer.

  13. I'm really excited for Tekken 8!

I've been a fan of the Tekken franchise from the very beginning and I really hope for Tekken 8 to improve the storytelling, endings, single player content and customization, all of which I found extremely underwhelming in Tekken 7.

  14. France beat England 2-1. I had a feeling France would win, but I hoped that at least it would be an entertaining match. And it sure was! I'm proud of England's efforts but they missed some HUGE chances with Harry Kane's second penalty and Marcus Rashford's free kick that went just over the bar at the very end of the second half.

The semi finals of the 2022 World Cup are as follows:

    December 13, 2022:
    🇦🇷 Argentina vs. 🇭🇷 Croatia

    December 14, 2022:
    🇫🇷 France vs. 🇲🇦 Morocco

My hope for the final is Argentina vs. Morocco.
