That is correct, I did that to give a more Anime look, instead of a more realistic look.

Something to experiment with - play around with the alpha channel of subsurface maps, to locally reduce the subsurface effect - allows you to avoid blurring the lips and brows and still keep the translucent skin effect. 
0% alpha means no subsurface, 100% means 100% subsurface
