Actually, I figured out a couple of things after this post:
1) the crashing was due to an extra skin layer category (apart from the usual Body, Head, Feet etc) that was causing the crash during baking - apparently it can only handle the default set of layers.
2) the blue tint - for some reason the red and blue (pretty sure it’s those 2, but I could be wrong) channels are swapped when baking - so it’s possible to swap them back in photoshop.
3) What I could not figure out were the subsurface maps - the body consistently came out with lower subsurface glow than the other body parts - not like complete lack of subsurface scattering, more like 50% of the needed value.
So: If someone is willing to figure this out and provide a flattened skin version for Hannah - it would be great so more people in the community can benefit
