@HDiddy's look good. Any improvement I'd do would be very, very minor if arguably improving at all. You might get very, very subtle, subjective changes with messing around with the spec glossiness and normal values/blend but I doubt you'd ever be able to tell unless you were looking at them. Normals will be a challenge for the lower res brows, though. Obviously you can do minor scale/position adjustments as you need to. If you like the shapes, there are brushes you can find for photoshop that do hair. I should probably post some genital hair options I've modified sometime lol.

If they don't look like what you want still... posting some screenshots to show us what you're trying to achieve and/or having problems with might help 🙂

ill post them when I log into the game later today.

  2. I really like the skin definition system for hook5 but my only issue is that it doesn't have the eyebrows that my models use so none of my models look the same without the eyebrows. So I decided to take the non skin definition eyebrows that I used and put them in a folder and maybe someone can make them usable for Skin Definition. This would also benefit the community, I don't know who the author of these eyebrows are since I got them from the Garden about 2 years ago. I attached the eyebrows in a folder and maybe someone can solve this issue, I tried doing it myself but I cannot seem to adjust the brows to fit on the models like should. So for now I can't really use the skin definition feature until these eyebrows are implemented utilizing the system.

    I have found not really.

The biggest factors to performance I have seen since I recently reinstalled my game is

    1. Poses: The more poses you have the longer it takes your game to load

    2. Addons: Addons of course will effect performance, specifically rooms and toys. I tend only to have rooms in my Activemod I am actually using. Same thing goes for toys. If you have a lot of toys this will slow things down.

    3. Images: The game seems to run better with jp2 images. So at minimum if you convert your pose icons from png's to jp2's that might help

I have no poses in my game, I keep a archive of my poses and only put in the poses I will use at the moment. When I am done I remove them from the game. But I am not sure if add-on's effect the overall performance for simply being in your folder, but I do prefer objects because you can make so many different rooms just by utilizing one room layout.

Re: cubemap, AFAIK, this is basically what they do:

Re: omnilights, they take less GPU power IIRC (but I could have that backwards... I just remember statement from Pervok on the difference). They still have their place but it's good to look at a scene and try to figure out logical places for directional vs. omnidirecional lights. Then, if you want more emphasis, add spotlights as needed for highlights and such. Study some photography lighitng techniques.

Else, in general, reshades can help. Some rooms want 'god rays' too or fog. Making sure you get the right glow can fake some HDR like effects.

Omni light sucks and will blow your FPS when adding more than one.

The color sliders for the body never worked for me either. Not sure why, but maybe it was not enabled.

As for Skins not saving....a few things:

    • Make sure your Skin Definition files are not read only
    • When creating layers do not use the same name for the layers. Like if you are creating a layer called "Pores" for all your parts it should be unique for each section (i.e Body_Pores, Hand_Pores, Feet_Pores, etc.)

    Thanks! ill look into it.

  6. When I apply a skin layer using the skin definition feature, I save it and update it. But then when I exit the game and then return my skin was not saved and it reverts back to the original skin. Not only that for some reason I can't change the color of the skin or any part of the body for some reason, is this some kind of bug?

  7. I am finally giving skin definition a try. I like it so far but my Hera needs the exact eye brows and eye shadow then she will be completed. How can I get those Eyebrows from the "Old" and add it to the "Update" because there aren't any eyebrows here for Skin Def that are just like this.

How I would do it in theory is:

    1. Take standard body layer 4x preferably and load that in photoshop

    2. Then take the stockings you want to add to it and add to Photoshop as another layer

    3. Align the stockings over the legs the way you want and then hide the body layer and export the stockings as a png or dds.

    4. Create your spec maps and normal maps.

    5. Profit 😉

You would have to do the same thing with the feet. DP16 had some skin def stockings in his repack you can pull.  That said I pulled them for you and they are attached. I would study those and use it as a guide.

    Should be doable by scripts.

Check the level definition and look for

    script_name =

    for this light.

I don't know if you already have some of the basic scripts, so I attached my /hook_data/scripts folder.

    Look for the flickering/lightning scripts.

I haven't really digged into the programming language of those scripts, but by playing around with some of the parameters you could find a way to make it 'strobe'.

Are you using Auto or a specific EnvMap for your rooms ?

A good cubemap can make a lot of difference.

Also try enabling Sunlight +  modify the angles and intensity. It can add a lot of realism to a scene.

Add as much backlight as possible, usually I add 2 frontal spotlights, and up to 5 backlights (diffuse only).

I avoid Omnilights, as they make the scene to artificial, but that may just be my impression - I prefere playing around with spotlights only.

When you add many lightsources, try adding more 'Intensity' to each light, and lower the ambient exposure.

Many of my rooms look great with lightsources around 6-8 intensity and a exposure value about 0.5.

Oh I remove the ENVmap from the room because when its on I can't tweak any of the intensities and Ambience etc.

I never use Omni light, it sucks! So how does this cube map thing works? I will try to mess with the sun light a bit more but I never used the diffuse option for the lights. What does it do exactly?

  12. I recently upgraded to a RTX2080, now I can keep a consistent 60FPS & above in a lot of GPU intensive rooms and with additional spotlights. But now I am trying to tweak my hook5 a bit more. I know I can get it to look even better but don't know what to tweak. Here are two images I just whipped together and nothing was done to them, this is how my game actually look without photoshop or reshade.

I need some input, thank you XD

As Oystermug said..''Yes'' i think that is my prime problem to be real honest😭😭.. I have almost got 100s of female models and i don't want them to look completely different in VX😪😪

My models still look the same once I moved to VX XD

@MrOllyKI thought transferring content over to VX would be a hassle but it was just drag and drop for me really. The main reason I stayed with 7.5 at the time was because the pose editor in the early beta phases only had 4 or 8 timelines on the editor compared to 12 in the other version. That was a downgrade for me, but then once it finally changed I made the move and haven't looked back. There is no need to go back to 7.5 anymore  just doesn't make sense for me.

  14. I haven't updated hook 5 in months and decided to finally update to the current build and I love everything about it. I can now name my spotlights right there on the spot which makes organizing much easier. But I have one issue, for some reason after I set my spotlights and save them, if I re-enter the room or refresh the room. I don't know why but for some strange reason all of my lights are all duplicated 5 times which causes the room to go extremely bright and drops my FPS. I dunno why this is happening, is this some kind of bug or is it room specific?

Hairpack400 has to be disabled in options manager for this.

It is disabled and it still doesn't work.
