I think patreon is good because it allows creators to be paid for their work, even if their work is just a hobby.

Great job, five posts completed 😒 You can run to the download section now!

Or maybe you will say something more about it, since what you are talking about is not that simple and certainly this thread is not about whether Patreon in general is good or bad? ...Perhaps you only read the title?

  2. Be careful not to get scammed by someone or maneuvered into unnecessary spending. Hair is exceptionally hard to port into this game - that's the reason why new ones appear so rarely. Hair from mods for The Sims are probably the easiest to port, and you can get these for free (note that I say "the easiest", but that doesn't mean I've ever managed to do it properly or even understand exactly what needs to be done 😵). Hair from DAZ assets? Good luck with that... they look best on their pictures because they can have several shit-tons of polygons there. There are some DAZ ported hair addons made by hfg2, you can check them as an example - they have a different style and look than the ones you mentioned and, without underestimating the amount of work they required, they just don't look the same as in DAZ because it's impossible.

I'm not trying to discourage you or anyone else, but just be careful, especially since you are putting your money on the line. Don't believe the miracles someone may promise you. I don't consider myself that mod savvy or anything, but even I would never attempt a blind porting of hair (that is, saying that I can do it before I even get a closer look - that goes for everything, by the way).

As one great philosopher, Mick Jagger, once said: "You can't always get what you want" 😉 Unfortunatelly.

Here's one that works really well for our game. No editing or modifying the Mod Manager is necessary to get it to work.

Although JSGME is not specifically designed for VX, it works very well.

I have used it to install addons that I wish to have the option of removing completely.

This is a generic mod manager. It fits a lot of games, it just has a pre-made configuration for TK. Useful if someone likes to see the contents of the Addons folder as a list in some program, it also simplifies the process of enabling and disabling addons a bit, so you don't have to do it manually. It does not prevent corrupting the installation in any way, contrary to what you wrote in the description, since it operates only in the Addons folder. Also, addons, by definition, do not replace any game files - they are deliberately designed to be only an external accessory that can be "detached" at any time. Unless someone installs them by literally merging them with the game files, in which case JSGME won't help a bit.

I assume the "game got corrupted" mentioned in this thread applies to the game itself, not to the game and installed addons... It's not that hard to spot the problem some addon is causing, one can gradually remove/disable series of 5-10 of them and see when the game starts working again. It's a hardly unrepairable thing, and doing it is much easier than reinstalling the entire game. Unless, you know, someone installs a whole lot of addons at once without paying much attention to what they're installing and not testing along the way to see if everything works. Remember folks, one of the commandments of stress-free moddding of any game is to add mods gradually and consciously and checking to see if everything works every now and then.

By the way, an alternative to JSGME is just TK17 Options Manager from the main game directory. Here you can turn off addons by unchecking them and just as quickly turn them back on. This functionality also works for folders in ActiveMod, models, outfits and partially for poses ('Save' folder only).

Learn to use modmanager like Nexus one, is best way to undo things when they fucked up

Neither NMM, nor Vortex, nor even the MO2 is usable with this game without advanced modifications of configs of these programs. So you have to be ready to mod the mod managers before modding the game itself. TK basically doesn't have any dedicated mod manager. Yet 😮

Also, game files cannot magically "get corrupted" by correctly installing content made for VX. Addons go to Addons folder, textures go to ActiveMod folder, Models to Models, and so on. If something doesn't work, you go back one step and disable/delete the problematic thing. There is not the slightest reason for a regular user to interfere with sensitive parts that can actually break the game, like VX-mod folder, Config folder, inside the game archives or any changes in Binaries folder (not counting adding there extra files like Hook 5 or something - and reverting the whole Binaries in case of problems is child's play). As you begin to touch these things, you step into dangerous waters, and you need to be aware that you can really mess something up in there - backups and remembering what you have changed is essential.

Of course, the files could also break due to some random system or hardware problem, in which case: my condolences...

  5. To już piątek? 😵

I agree with everything said !!! I financially support Patreon modders who create high quality content themselves and sell it (clothes, poses, etc.). I have no problem with that.

    But I have three questions.

First question. How to create a reliable mechanism for protecting the rights of content creators on this site?
I had a situation when a new user downloaded my model and posted it under the guise of his own. I complained to the administrator and the stolen content was removed very quickly and efficiently! Thanks to admins and moderators! Your work is not very simple!

Second question. Is the specified modder protection mechanism sufficient, or do you need something more reliable? If so, how to implement it?
After all, I suppose there will always be thieves who will try to pass off someone else's as their own.

Third question. Is it legal to use someone else's content without the permission of its author to create a free video?
I am not a modder, I create videos (all my videos are free to watch). To create a video, I mainly use the work of other modders (with KE, MG, Patreon, etc.). Not always I can recognize the author of the content, tk. downloaded it back in the MG era. Sometimes I create something myself that the community hasn't done yet.
For example, if I use @Euphie designed earrings without her permission in my video and only post it here for free to watch, would that be a violation?
This is an important question for me, because I still do not understand where the line is between the legitimate use of content and its theft.

I am grateful to the community and all of its members and would not want to unwittingly become a violator. I would be grateful for clarifications!

As for the first and second questions - the forum is getting more and more traffic and it's hard for us to be in all places at the same time, so reporting stuff to us is very important (everything have a 'Report' button, as you noticed). So please, do that.

The very issue of the validity and "weight of the offense" of a given report is complicated and it is difficult to present it in generalities. In an ideal world, it would be great if we got some tangible proof of the content's authorship with the report, but this is a very unlikely scenario... The situation where your content is labeled by someone else as their own is theft, quite obviously. When something is already here on KE and it is falsely reposted by someone else, the matter is, of course, very simple to resolve. However, we are not walking databases remembering every file that has ever appeared on Mods Garden... I personally knew almost every "old" (before 2019) addon and its author's name, because I have a good memory (for some things...) and used to convert tons of addons for R9X - but even that may not be enough. I would say that we treat each case individually... When it is necessary, we will gather collective knowledge and memories and try to establish the facts and find a solution.

Can it be done differently? It is possible and I am very open to ideas. You can even write to me privately if you are shy or don't want to stick out. I hardly ever bite hard... unless someone likes it ☺️ Yeah... um... what was I talking about? Oh yes, ownership issue ☺️

Third question... I'm not a legal specialist so I am not in a position to say if it is 'legal', but you can ask me if I think it is moral. In general, I would say yes, free is free, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, let's define 'free', as this word apparently has a lot of meanings depending on the context. There is also this known conflict between "free as in freedom" and "free as not for money" that so often leads to abuses... Anyway, I see it all as a "share-alike" license application. On the same conditions. If someone is sharing something for free, you have the right to use it, as long as you also provide your output work for free. The nature of modding is that what you create and share will most likely be used further. Why would someone want to publicly share, for example, an addon and prohibit people from using it in their own pictures and videos? It would be bizarre 🥴 Now, what does it mean to "share for free"? If you create a movie, picture, comic or other creative work using mods that you got for free, then it must also be shared for free. Keep in mind that I'm not trying to preach communism here - I do not mean that you HAVE to share everything with everyone...

So, what is "free"? If you show your videos, pictures, comics to a group of people who paid you with real money to see it - it's not free (btw, most often I'm talking about Patreon here, but remember that this is not the only platform - or way - to practice such activity). The point is complicated in detail, but actually much more obvious than it sounds when you know the difference between right and wrong. Let's say you share half of the material with the public, and half of it is only shared for a fee - yes, it doesn't count as free. Well, let's say you took a thousand pictures and made a two-hour video and you shared all of this with the public but put only one little image behind the paywall - yes, that is still not free either. The "degree" or "intensity" of the paywall application does not matter. Something is free or not. You steal something or use it as intended - it's hard to see the gray area here, in my opinion.

If someone wants to use someone else's mod in a picture, video or other creative work that he will post for viewing only for a fee - then this person absolutely must obtain the express consent of the mod's author. The author must make an informed decision, he must know that some material benefit will be derived from his work, without any understatements or omissions. Blind credit alone is not enough - in this case the author of the mod did not have the opportunity to consider whether he agreed to it or not, the fact that he is later praised and appreciated (most often without his knowledge anyway) does not suddenly reverse the moral poles of this situation. Not asking the author for consent is taking a huge moral shortcut, so to speak euphemistically. Of course, this necessity is most often overlooked... After all, if the author is asked directly, he will refuse in 9 out of 10 cases 🤔

Let me also briefly explain the difference between profiting from the work of others and accepting a donation... even though my colleagues have already explained it many times and gave examples (for example, HDiddy in this very topic). There's nothing wrong with showing support to your favorite creator and for him to accept this support. But you know, the difference is the same as in between selling stolen goods and doing charity... When you buy a homeless woman a dinner and she eats it and has the strength to continue her fight, you have done something good. But, when you buy a homeless woman a dinner in exchange for... you know what... the weight of your good deed "slightly" drops down. Especially when this homeless woman is using someone else's butt to show her gratitude, and the unfortunate thing has neither agreed nor knows it (because she's drugged... wow, things have turned dark in this parable 😵).

Well, there is also the question of putting 100%-yours content behind the paywall, but I don't have the strength to write any more right now, so another time 😑 Identifying what is really "your own" and what is not in this case gives me a headache right away.

One more thing - if I understand correctly, you also ask about Patreon-only things and their use in free videos. This is a matter between you and the creator you support. It's best to ask him directly... although if I have to answer I would say yes. Forbidding someone to use a mod obtained on Patreon for a fee (I'm not talking about sharing the thing with others, I'm talking about showing for free a creative work made with this) is such a specific request that the owner would certainly demand it in capital letters. Personally, however, I do not currently know any specific cases of people who literally sell TK mods in there - but neither do I do an in-depth investigation every day. However, I find it stupid and morally ambiguous, both doing it and supporting it (again, how much of it is really just their own work?), but that's a matter to discuss for another day 🥱

  7. And to be clear - giving someone credits without asking permission is not the same as getting permission.

The author must be given the opportunity to decline, which must be respected. This is not the same as with the free, publicly available content, where it is welcome to give credits to the authors of the stuff used and it say something good about the person giving said credits - but in the end it is not exactly required by force.

As soon as you start adding money to this equation, nothing is that simple anymore and the whole thing of old-fashioned modding courtesy gets turned upside down and becomes terribly complicated. Keep this in mind when you start thinking about receiving donations.

  8. My personal take on this - I do not consent to the use of any of my addons, mods, textures, anything I put my work into in anything posted on Patreon or similar services, and which will be available only there and for a fee. Be it pictures, videos, comics, whatever. And I don't care if you got it from this forum or from MG or you found it under the doormat in front of your house. I don't care if it's my new mod or the old one. I know all my things and I will easily recognize it. This applies to everything I ever shared.

I don't care about your credits, this is not a solution for me. You don't even have to ask me - the answer is always no and I will never agree, without exception and without regard to what you offer in return. And if I find you are ignoring it, you'll get a one-way ticket out of here.

Let me now quote myself, some time ago I raised this issue in the description of one of my model downloads:

    Quote

Unfortunately, we at Klub Exile do not have the power to counteract this type of activity outside the forum. This does not mean, however, that we are not trying to counteract it and we will continue to do so. So remember - if you are a mod author and you are sure that some of your work is being used by someone from this forum without your permission, please report it to me immediately. You don't have to put up with it. It's not something you can't help it. It's not something that nobody cares about - we care. And we don't want this kind of peoople on this forum.

As for all Patreon and similar platforms account holders who currently reside on this forum and create suspicious paid content - we have an eye on you. In fact, I'm not above paying you anonymously and reviewing your stuff in terms of using the contents of this forum's download section. I've already done this on a couple of occasions and will continue to do so.

PS. The fact that I have a "member away" status right now doesn't mean that I don't know what is going on here in my absence.

Lol 🙂 No cóż, raczej nie poradzisz sobie bez trzeciego przycisku w myszce.

  13. How is this Hook5 question? 🤔

Okay, I assume you're interested in hairworks, as R9Hair179 has been the host of many of Pervok's hairworks. Here you have a great description by Driver of how to do it in VX, including all the necessary files.

If you really only want this hair addon, and your question is unrelated to the H5, I have it here as well:

    Custom.03.R9Hair179.7z

I'll pretend I didn't notice exactly what you were asking, but these "**" in the topic name were not a forum bug. Please make sure you read this.

And there, at the very bottom of the list of things you follow you should have Other->Members.

  15. Well, the first step might be to put your download files into the download section, not your blog 🤔

The functionality of the blog is not intended for this and that is why we are promoting the entries on the main page - people usually want their blog posts to appear there so that others can see and read them. Anyway, as far as I know, it's not technically possible to make an exception in any way.

O tak, to może zadziałać dobrze też 🙂

Nota poboczna - jesteś z Polski? 😵 To dopiero nowość dla mnie. A wspominam Twoje imię dwa razy w tygodniu jak wystawiam modele. Wyglądam teraz jak ten Twój kot z avatara 😛

  18. Folks, this has already been announced, but as a reminder: do not post any links to the extended version of Hook 5 on this forum. That's the first thing.

Second thing - this also applies to all possible workarounds to this rule - names of places where it can be found, search hints, keywords, treasure island maps - nothing.

We have at least thirty warning points ready to collect for anyone willing to try their luck, and this is the mildest option.

  19. Brave jest zrobiony na Chromium. W skrócie, to jak Chrome tylko Google ma trochę mniej okazji do szpiegowania 😛

Nie wiedziałam jednak, że to tłumaczenie tak kijowo pokazuje się w Firefoksie... Chyba żaden admin go nie używa lol. Zobaczę co da się zrobić.
